Per state law and professional massage association guidelines, I am not providing in-person services at this time. However, I am offering reduced-rate virtual consultations (via Zoom, Skype or FaceTime) during which I can demonstrate self-care techniques (self-massage and stretches) and/or lead you through a Reiki mediation. Contact me if you're interested in trying a session. Self-massage is a great way to counteract anxiety and stress by supporting our proprioception (body awareness) as well as oxytocin and endorphin production!
Lisa Chan, LMT
I’ve been a bodyworker since 2012. After completing the three levels of Reiki training and certification to become a Reiki Master, I began helping friends and family, as well as patients at BWH's Reiki program. I enrolled in massage school and discovered a love of learning about the body and figuring out how to best support it.
Now I seek to share my passion for caring for the body through a combination of therapy and education. I’m dedicated to helping my clients move through a wide range of physical, emotional, and spiritual transitions in the most effective and nurturing way possible.
When I'm not seeing clients, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends as well as working on my own health and fitness. I'm the proud owner of a barbell system, which I train with 3 times per week (see more about that on my blog!).

WHAT I DO
A Typical Session
Each session, I offer a personalized blend of tools that work best for you and your body. I may include elements of Shiatsu, Reiki, Swedish massage, and Myofascial Release depending on your preferences and your current state of being (body, heart, and mind).
Shiatsu and Reiki are typically done through clothing, but they can also be incorporated into a more traditional massage session, where clients undress to their level of comfort and lie on a warm table, covered by a sheet and blanket except for the areas being treated.
Sessions often start with a "checking in" as I offer Reiki and/or breathing techniques to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Shiatsu techniques (compressions and stretches) are a great way to get an overview of the body's current state and begin addressing muscular imbalances. Massage and Myofascial techniques help to address specific areas of restriction and tension. A final check-in with Reiki and/or visualization and breathing exercises helps bring the session to its peaceful conclusion.
I take careful notes, not only to monitor clients' goals and progress, but also to make sure that important medical issues are discussed and adjusted for.
